Birth Advocate by Priestess is an early-stage startup building the first national directory connecting birthing patients with lawyers trained in birth-time legal advocacy. Black women die in delivery rooms at three times the rate of white women, and the legal infrastructure to protect them has never been built. We are building it now.

About the Role

We are hiring our first Head of Birth Advocate. You will build and run this business from the ground up. You own lawyer recruitment, patient growth, revenue, and team building. As the company grows, you hire and lead the team beneath you. You report to the founder.

Responsibilities

Recruit, convert, and retain lawyers into the Birth Advocate directory across multiple markets. Drive patient-side awareness and demand through partnerships, community outreach, and content. Own revenue targets, track performance, and report results. Hire and manage a growing team. Lead expansion into new cities and markets. Represent Birth Advocate with legal, medical, and community partners.

Qualifications

MBA or equivalent experience building and leading an organization from early stage. Proven ability to sell a product or idea before it is fully established. Experience hiring and managing teams. Network in legal, healthcare, advocacy, or women's health preferred. Personal or professional familiarity with Black maternal health, birth equity, or medical racism. Operates independently without a complete playbook.

Compensation

This is a startup. We are honest about that. You earn commission on revenue you personally generate while the company builds to its first revenue milestone. At that milestone, a base salary turns on. Performance bonuses are tied to growth targets. Long-term compensation is discussed with qualified candidates.
